The DxOMark, recognized for its camera tests of cell phones, expanded the area to other segments. Like batteries. According to its tests, the big winner in this regard was Galaxy M51, surpassing Samsung's flagship S21, the iPhone 12 Pro Max and all other rivals.
The Galaxy M51 scored 88 points, compared to 78 for the iPhone 12 Pro Max, 70 for the Galaxy S21 Ultra (with Snapdragon 888) and 57 for the same flagship, but equipped with Samsung's own Exynos 2100 chipset. The platform subjected the phones to various tests to determine which one had the best battery performance and, at the end of the battle, classified the Galaxy M51, and its 7000 mAh battery, as “autonomy monster”.
The tests
According to DxOMark, the tests carried out by the platform “use scientific methodologies, a Faraday cage and a touch robot to remain as objective as possible”. The Galaxy M51 and other phones were subjected to several common usage situations, such as calls on 3G networks, streaming music and online video (on Wi-Fi networks), playing videos offline and gaming.
What it says above: 3 days and 1 hour of battery life, 1h23 for 80% charge, 2h23 for 100%. The definition of which battery was the best among all the phones in the test went through tests such as charging speed and dozens of charge and discharge tests. The entire process took 6,5 days to complete and included more than 70 subtests, according to the DxOMark team. In the end, it also beat other renowned rivals, such as the Huawei P40 Lite and the Motorola Moto G9 Power.
“The Samsung Galaxy M7000’s massive 51mAh battery gave it an undeniable edge over the Motorola Moto G9 Power and Huawei P40 Lite in our battery life tests, with the Galaxy M51 lasting four full nights and three full days, for a total of 80 hours and 40 minutes,” DxOMark decreed.
According to the people on the test site, in total, the Galaxy M51 lasted 3 days and one hour without needing to resort to a power outlet. When it was plugged in, it took 2h25 to fully charge, and 1h23 to go from zero to 80% battery. On the other hand, the Moto G9 Power, with its 6000 mAh battery, lasted for 67 hours, while the Huawei and its much smaller 4200 mAh battery lasted 56 hours straight.
