All about the best cell phones

A Samsung is developing a powerful camera with nothing less than 600 MP for its smartphones. The executive vice president of the South Korean company, Yongin Park, had previously spoken about this plan of the company and, now, it seems that it is becoming real.

Tipster Ice Universe, known for leaking various information about Samsung, has shared images from a presentation that show the 600 MP camera in a series of concept art pieces. The sensor is quite large, measuring 1,4 centimeters, almost twice the size of current CMOS sensors. In addition, the module has a single pixel of 0,8µm.

The main purpose of this super camera Samsung is to record videos in up to 8K without sacrificing image quality. It is worth remembering that studies say that the human eye's capture limit is around 576 megapixels. In other words, with 600 MP, the camera would be able to break this barrier.

It will still take time

Despite being quite innovative, Samsung's 600 MP camera is still expected to take a while to reach the market. The South Korean company must first complete the development of a 250 MP sensor to then focus on the boldest undertaking.

The main obstacle to this is precisely the rather large size of the sensor. According to the images, the model would be 22 mm above the device's cover and would occupy up to 12% of the entire rear of the device. Until this is reduced, a 600 MP camera should not be launched.

Currently, Samsung's most powerful sensor is in the latest top-of-the-line model released by the manufacturer. Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G It has (in addition to a giant name) a 108 MP main camera (that is, much less than the 600 MP in development). In addition, it has several sensors that complement the cameras' capabilities.
