Galaxy S20+ Tokyo Olympics Special Edition

It's sad, but the Tokyo Olympics were postponed for at least a year due to the coronavirus pandemic. In any case, Samsung has confirmed that it will launch an Olympic version of the Galaxy S20+, just as it did last year with the Galaxy S10+.

The difference is the matte gold finish

The smartphone has a matte gold finish and the Tokyo 2020 Olympics branding printed on the bottom of its back. In addition to the color and this detail, the box will also be customized with the Olympic Games motifs.

Galaxy S20+ gets Olympic version

As always happens with the Olympic versions of Samsung smartphones, the device should also feature a special Tokyo 2020 Games theme. The Samsung brand does not appear on the device, in its place is the Galaxy brand, but the terms are practically synonymous in the Japanese market.

Inside, the Galaxy S20+ Olympic Edition is just like standard version of the device, with the Snapdragon 865 processor, 12 GB of RAM and 128 GB of capacity. It also has the quad camera, one of the highlights of the Galaxy S20+, in addition to the 4500 mAh battery with fast charging (25 watts and 15 watts wireless).

Galaxy S20+ Tokyo Olympics Special Edition

The Galaxy S20+ 5G Olympic Edition will be sold to consumers, and will not be exclusive to athletes participating in the Olympics. The device is expected to have a limited number of pieces.

It has been on pre-sale since yesterday (18/03) at website from Japanese carrier NTT DOCOMO (in Japanese). Its price is only slightly more expensive than the standard S20+ 5G costs in Japan. Delivery is expected to start in June, but there is a possibility that the launch will be delayed.

Samsung's partnership with the IOC (International Olympic Committee) has spanned more than two decades, and was renewed at the end of 2018 for another 10 years, meaning the company will be a sponsor of the games until 2028.
