Bitmojis, for those who don't use the app, are a personalized cartoon version of the user, which have become the profile icon of most accounts on the platform. According to the company, more than 200 million people use the models daily.
New Bitmoji formats
Now, 3D models should make the Bitmoji experience even more complete on Snapchat, with more than 1.200 combinations of expressions and body movements for the virtual dolls. The other forms of customization remain the same, with it being possible to change practically every detail of the face, skin, hair and clothes.
Although this is the first time that Snapchat has released 3D Bitmojis within profiles, they had already appeared in some lenses (similar to filters) that could put the characters to interact in the real world in 2017. Since then, there was anticipation for when this would arrive in a broader way on the platform.
Custom emojis are not just a creation of Snapchat. In 2016, the social network acquired Bitstrips, which developed the images for social networks, for around US$64 million (a value revealed the year after the purchase). The Bitmoji app, which allows the use of the images in messaging services (not just Snapchat), is still available as normal.
