The Snapdragon 895, a future 4nm processor that Qualcomm intends to launch on the market to be the brand's flagship. The chip may be manufactured by Samsung.

The information comes from insider Ice Universe (@Universelce) revealed this Monday (05/07). According to him, the South Korean manufacturer, which already has a contract with Qualcomm for the production of the recently launched Snapdragon 888+, forged under the 5nm LPE process, was chosen to remain as the right arm in the manufacture of the SD 895. The Snapdragon 895+, however (even more top), would continue to be produced by TSMC.

The Snapdragon 885, the Qualcomm processor that Samsung would start producing, will have Kryo 780 CPU cores based on ARM's recently announced Cortex-X2, Cortex-A710 and Cortex-A510 CPU cores. According to the leaks, it can also use the Adreno 730 GPU, an integrated Snapdragon X65 5G modem, and even support for quad-channel LPDDR5 RAM.

Other processors

In addition to the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 895 processor, Samsung is already using its workforce to produce other chipsets. Samsung Foundry is currently responsible for, for example, the Exynos 2100, in addition to the aforementioned Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+.

The brand is investing heavily to try to gain market share during the global chip shortage and recently announced a $151 billion investment in the sector. The idea is to fill the gap gap that TSMC is leaving momentarily. Samsung's rival is involved in the development of the A15 Bionic, which will be used in the next generation of iPads and iPhones, paving the way for Samsung's growth.
