HTC may be preparing the arrival of new hardware: the Vive 2, virtual reality glasses developed especially to compete with the Oculus Quest 2, currently the most used headset on the market. A post on the company's Twitter account, featuring a close-up photo of a black plastic structure accompanied by the words "It's your move," gave the first hint of a project that is about to become a reality.

While there isn't much specific information about the Vive 2, HTC's new virtual reality headset is said to be a revamped version of the Cosmos Play, a device that was part of an initiative called Proton Project, last year. It was a movement tracker developed by the brand in 2020, but it was not released to consumers.

According to Yves Maitre, CEO of the brand, Cosmos Play would be a gadget “very similar to normal glasses”, but which would combine, in addition to virtual reality functions, augmented reality and state-of-the-art headphones. everything that the Oculus Quest 2 now offers to consumers, including prescription lenses.

Lots of secrecy and little information

Another indication that the HTC Vive 2 could compete with other virtual reality headsets was also given in a post by the brand on Twitter. In it, the brand invites users to show off their dancing skills by posting VR clips on the social network. Apart from the posts published on Twitter, there is still no information or real images of the HTC Vive 2, the brand's virtual reality headsets.

The possible release date and price of Vive 2, HTC's new virtual reality headset, are also still under wraps, even from the most well-informed leakers in the industry. We'll have to wait a little longer to see if what's been worked on in Project Proton will finally reach consumers' hands.
