While there is no set release date yet, the ROG Phone 5 has been making quite a splash lately, and was just spotted on Geekbench. Recently, the company revealed gallery and a video showing the device, in addition to the leak of its technical specifications. What's interesting is that the version of the smartphone found on Geekbench has 16 GB of RAM, double what was stated in the last leak.
Geekbench scores are promising
In fact, not one, but two listings for the ROG Phone 5 have appeared on Geekbench. However, both devices are under the name ASUS_I005DA, indicating that this is indeed the successor to the ROG Phone 3, which was called ASUS_I003D. Another fact that indicates that they are the same version is the similarity in the scores: while one of them scored 1125 in the single-core processor test and 3714 in the multiprocessor test, the other received notes 1131 and 3729.
To give more context, the iPhone 12 achieved, respectively, scores of 1581 and 3768. This means that although it is below the smartphone of Apple In one of the tests, Asus' ROG Phone 5 performed very well in the multiprocessor test. Asus' phone even surpassed it in some specific aspects. Asus' smartphone is aimed at gaming, so its performance is not surprising. Furthermore, according to the information we have so far, it is very likely that the new ROG Phone will come with the processor Snapdragon 888.
It should be considered, however, that the iPhone 12 It only has 4 GB of RAM, as well as only six cores in its processor. In any case, the ROG Phone 5's numbers are by no means disappointing. Quite the opposite.
In short, everything suggests that we will have two versions of the ROG Phone 5: one with 8 GB of RAM and the other with double that, 16 GB. This was also the case with its predecessor, although the ROG Phone 3 offered even more possibilities in terms of memory.
As stated at the beginning of the text, the ROG Phone 5 has been making headlines recently. This could mean that its launch is approaching (or not). Of course, we hope that its launch is soon, so that we can see what the smartphone will bring us. In the meantime, however, we continue to wait for new leaks, which shouldn't take long.
