O YouTube has released an update that makes it possible to access hashtag pages. The feature is similar to Twitter Trending Topics, which allows users to search by hashtags.

The new feature was announced on platform support page and details that the option is available on all browsers and smartphones. According to YT, to access one of the pages, simply click on a hashtag highlighted in the title, description or comments on some video.

According to the publication, the new classification method will optimize the user experience with videos that are closer to the search term. Previously, when users typed a hashtag in the search bar, they were directed to a combination of content that used the search term in their video, as well as content related to the keyword.

With the change, however, YouTube will now only display pages that specifically contain the hashtags entered. The ranking will also prioritize the best videos (those with the most views and likes) at the top.

YouTube did not disclose whether will create some filter to prevent users from inserting unwanted hashtags on comment pages. This is currently a problem on Twitter, as many communities and bots take advantage of trending topics to promote other topics in the search bar. At the top of the page, you can see the number of videos and channels that used the search term. Check it out:
