This Thursday (28), Motorola presented the new Edge 40 Neo, which is part of the brand's most advanced cell phone line. The model has protection against water and dust, and the back has a texture that gives the sensation of leather, although it is not made of any material of animal origin.

What do you need to know:

  • Motorola launches the Edge 40 Neo in Brazil, which is part of the intermediate category in its premium product line.
  • The device features cameras of up to 50 megapixels, promising 16 times faster performance for photographs in low light conditions, such as in night mode.
  • The device includes a charger that can provide 50% charge to the battery in just 15 minutes, and this accessory is provided free of charge in the packaging.
  • The Motorola Edge 40 Neo already comes with the Android 13 system and will receive updates up to Android 15, with an extended security guarantee until 2026.

Samsung often uses the “SE” designation on its models to offer similar features to its flagship devices, but at a more affordable price. Motorola has followed a similar approach, expanding its Edge line to achieve the same goal. While the Edge 40 Pro, launched internationally in April this year, is the most complete model, the Edge 40 Neo is designed to offer almost equal performance.

On the front, it has a 6,55-inch pOLED display with Full HD resolution that stretches to fill a more vertical 20:9 aspect ratio. In the middle of the screen, there's a 32-megapixel front-facing camera. On the back, Motorola has called the texture "vegan leather," which is a fancy way of saying it's a textured plastic with a leather-like feel but without using any animal-based materials.

Although it is pleasant to the touch and improves aesthetics, it is important to note that the material used on the back of the Motorola Edge 40 Neo is still plastic. Regarding water resistance, the device follows the standard of the line with the same name, featuring IP68 certification. This means that, theoretically, you can submerge the cell phone in fresh water at a depth of up to 1,5 meters for up to 30 minutes. However, it is important to note that although the certificate allows this capability, it is not advisable to carry out the action.

Motorola Edge 40 Neo has a hybrid camera

Internally, Motorola has opted for the mid-range MediaTek Dimensity 7030 processor, accompanied by 8 GB of RAM and a generous 256 GB of internal storage capacity. It is worth noting that there is a version with 12 GB of RAM available internationally, but this version is not available in Brazil, at least for now.

On the back of the device, we find two cameras, although they offer the functionality of three. The first camera has a 50-megapixel sensor, while the second is a 13-megapixel ultrawide lens. The second lens has two additional functionalities: one is the ability to measure distance to improve the portrait effect, and the other is related to the focus motor, which also allows you to take high-quality macro photos.

The device is powered by a 5.000mAh battery and includes a 68-watt charger in the box. The Android 13 operating system is already pre-installed, and Motorola promises to provide updates up to Android 15, with guaranteed security updates until 2026.

The Motorola Edge Neo 40 is now available in Brazil in black, blue and a light green with a touch of magenta. The retail price for this device is R$2.799.
