Don't Call Me is a useful service for those who don't want to be bothered by telemarketers. including WhatsApp and text messages, it is not possible to block certain numbers on your cell phone thanks to robotic systems advanced technologies used by companies. Available in São Paulo, however, not every company respects the consumer's wishes: with this in mind, Procon decided to publish a list of companies who most ignore the registry.
Available exclusively for area codes in São Paulo, the Não Me Ligue (Don't Call Me) program requires companies to stop bothering users with calls within 30 days. The company must include phone details, such as CPF and home address. After this period, if the company disrespects the consumer's wishes, Procon-SP may impose fines. And it has already done so on several occasions: according to the agency, R$250 million has already been requested due to violations. And in 2021, Vivo has been leading the ranking of those who most disrespect the service.
The mobile phone operator tops the Procon list with at least 3.743 violations of the Do Not Call Me policy. It is followed by the medical services company Dr de Todos. Claro, Banco Pan, Banco Itaú, and Tim come next, in that order.
Just fining is not enough
According to Fernando Capez, executive director of Procon-SP, the Do Not Call Me list was created because many companies did not see the fines as an incentive to correct their behavior. Public exposure could pressure them to do so, and also guide consumers to choose other companies that respect their data privacy policies more.
The Disturbers Ranking was created because for many companies, simply imposing fines has not served to curb their abusive practices. For this reason, Procon-SP intends to expose to consumers which brands and suppliers do not respect them, and continue to harass and make offers against their will.
the ranking is available here. Unfortunately only available for DDDs in São Paulo, there is a national alternative to Don't Call Me, Do not disturb me. Companies that do not comply with the user's request can be reported via the Procon website.
