iCloud+, a premium storage service from Apple, allows the user to use “Hide My Email” directly in apps to hide the email behind a random email address. The feature is part of next update to iOS 15, but it is already available in the beta version of the operating system.
The privacy measure of Apple has the same name as the Hide My Email option (Hide My Email) launched late last year — although the functions are different. While the first only protects at the time of logins, iCloud+ random email can be turned on and off as needed, creating “fake addresses” on demand.
In practice, the difference lies in the level of user control. It will work like this: the app will generate a random address, forming names with numbers and letters, along with the ending “@icloud.com” and will be redirected to the user’s inbox. This feature is similar to what Google already offers in Gmail.
It is worth remembering: the resource is only part of the premium package of Apple, with prices starting at R$3,50 in Brazil.
Extra caution with email attacks
The random email generator option for iCloud+ is one of the privacy measures announced to prevent subscribers from receiving more spam and cyber scam attempts at their official addresses. Considering that the same address is used to centralize numerous important accesses to the ecosystem, any decision that results in greater protection of digital identity is always welcome.
Each random email will be managed directly in the iCloud settings tab, and will also allow you to apply labels and notes to remember what each email is for. This way, if the website leaks its database, you will be safer from spam and other attacks. inbox attacks.
