Spotify is testing new features for its Android app, including a new home screen widget and a mini player that changes color to match the album art being played.

Available in Spotify Beta 8.6, the change affects the app's internal mini player, which is displayed in the bottom bar of the interface while the user browses other sessions. According to the images released, the menu looks very similar to the player in the Android notification bar, which already had this color scheme, and now has a slight transparency, which gives the impression of floating above the other Spotify screens.

Despite this, it is not clear when the new layout will arrive for all users of the platform, but you can check it out by downloading Spotify Beta on Google Play.

Spotify invests in resources and sees impact on subscriptions

Apparently, Spotify took advantage of the increase in subscriptions of the app to reward users with new features on the platform. In recent weeks, the company also announced the creation of an alerts tab that updates users in real time about the news from artists and podcasts they follow, as well as a partnership with the Giphy platform to create exclusive GIFs from artists that redirect the user to their pages on the streaming network.

The company also plans to expand its operations by creating exclusive content and by Greenroom growth, audio chat platform (similar to Clubhouse), which reached the 100 installation mark in just over a month.

The arrival of the Spotify Hi-fi sometime in 2021, a service that will allow the playback of music in lossless format at no additional cost to subscribers.
