A review published on YouTube brings details about the new MagSafe Battery Pack from Apple. Disassembled, its secret appears: the accessory has two connected charging cells, in addition to a layer of circuits NFC and thermal protection.

The video made by the Charger Lab channel shows that the increased charging capacity of the new accessory Apple is due to the presence of two 3,82-volt cells. According to the review, the union of these cores gives the Magsafe battery a capacity of 1.460 mAh with a power of 11W.

In addition, the accessory has a thermal layer to cool the cells. This is the technology that caused the delay in the launch of this version of MagSafe. During development, it was found that the iPhone system identified the presence of two cells as overheating of the device and the thermal protection serves to camouflage and normalize this behavior.

The video also shows that the new MagSafe battery pack has several adhesives and layers of internal glue that would make it difficult to repair the accessories. This is a practice that has been opposed by the US government, which is currently working on a project to make it easier to repair electronic products in the United States.

The MagSafe battery pack was launched by Apple in July and works as a kind of PowerBank that sticks to the back of the iPhone 12. It is sold abroad for US$ 99, approximately R$ 520 (without taxes), but in Brazil it will cost much more, R$ 1.199. Despite the price, the accessory has been a hit with users  and some retailers are suffering from a lack of devices ready for delivery. The waiting time for batteries in physical stores can take up to 7 business days.
