The latest report obtained by the site Nikkei Asia revealed that the Apple will not launch any iPhone 4G models in 2022. Even the more affordable version of the flagship, the iPhone SE, will leave the factory ready to work with 5G technology. The difference is that it will not have the A15 Bionic processor, which will be in the iPhone 13 line, and will instead use the A14, also compatible with 5G.
The other models will use the new chipset, which will work in conjunction with the Qualcomm X60 modem. The Nikkei report also pointed out that, among them, the most noticeable absence will be that of the iPhone Mini model. Apple would have decided to abandon production, given the drop in sales of the latest model launched.
The sources linked to Apple Nikkei Asia sources said the company will replace the iPhone Mini with a new Pro Max model, of course, equipped with 5G technology for next year. It would have 6,7 inches, and would complete the family that will have four models in total, two with 6,1 inches and two with 6,7. “However, the designs for the detailed specifications for the four new models next year are not yet finalized,” said the source, on condition of anonymity.
In terms of numbers, the projection is that Apple send to market 95 million 5G iPhone devices by the end of January 2022. It is worth remembering that the production of the iPhone 13 series is in full swing, with the launch scheduled for September or October. By the end of next year, the company's goal is to sell 230 million flagships, including new and old models, which would mean an 11% growth compared to 2021.
