In 2022 it is expected that Apple launch an iPhone 14 with a most affordable price (as in generation 12 and in the future 13). But it shouldn't be a Mini model, with reduced size, which ended up being revealed a fiasco in this generation. The version would have the same size as the iPhone 12 Pro Max, that is: 6,7 inches (170 mm).
According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, this year will be the last in which the Apple launches a Mini version of the iPhone. In future generations it will maintain the four models, but none with a reduced size.
Currently, the models are the standard version, the Max and Pro Max, with even more robust (and more expensive) configurations, in addition to the Mini, which has a smaller screen, slightly lower configurations and a reduced price compared to the rest of the line. The large version with a lower price is being called the “iPhone 14 Max”, but the official name should change.
iPhone 14 Max in 2022
The current iPhone 12 Pro Max has the largest display ever on an iPhone and costs $1.099. The 14 version of the model is expected to cost a maximum of $900. There will also be more complete and expensive versions of the iPhone 14. The sizes of all are expected to range from 6,1 to 6,7 inches (155 mm and 170 mm).
The motivation for the move to ditch the Mini and launch an iPhone 14 Max variant is almost certainly because of the low sales of iPhone 12 Mini, which has been in limbo between the SE and the standard iPhone 12. For now, in 2021, no major changes are expected in the next iPhone. More radical changes should be left for 2022. This year, we will still have, apparently, a Mini version of the iPhone 13.
