Vida Celular

All about the best cell phones

MMORPG fans have a reason to celebrate today: after months of waiting, Runescape Mobile has finally made its way to the Android platform, and can be downloaded from Play Store starting today. The game, which is a modernized version of Jagex's classic browser RPG, Old School Runescape, has been promised for mobile platforms since 2018. In pre-registration since the end of April this year, Runescape has appeared first on iOS.

Although it was already in our list of suggestions multiplayer games as a beta, it was only now that the title received its official release on Android. Check out the game's announcement trailer below:

Same adventures as PC, but more unstable

Requiring just under 100 MB to install (and about 4 GB free for downloading temporary files), the Android version of Runescape presents the same quests as the PC version, but with more instability. During the tutorial alone, the game closed by itself four times, even using the battery saving settings. Some players complained that they could not even exit the tutorial, or the character creation screen.

Fully translated into Portuguese (although I didn't change the language during the test), the game puts you in the shoes of an adventurer who, after being ambushed by trolls at sea, ends up in the city of Dalendale. This is where the tutorial begins, teaching you the basic commands and actions of the game: fishing, cooking, talking to other characters, using weapons and leveling up.

The main point of the game — creating a character that can be anything you want — is there from the beginning. Do you want to live a peaceful life as a fisherman or a lumberjack, without thinking about picking up weapons? It's possible. Is your thing to hunt monsters in dangerous adventures in search of treasure? Runescape has that too. In fact, the new version also allows you to adjust the difficulty level when creating a character.

One positive point for fans is that the Android version of Runescape Mobile uses the same servers and logins as Jagex, so players can use the same account and continue their journey, even away from their computer. The characters have voiceovers and the game's progression system remains the same, which has always been a strong point of the series, since the days of Old School.

However, the adaptation still suffers from other problems. In addition to the launch instability, Runescape Mobile has interface problems, with menus with very small buttons, with no possibility of resizing. The clicks and rotations of the camera are all done by touching the screen, which, depending on the stability of the server, does not always register the commands.

Bottom line: Runescape is still a fun game, but your mobile experience may be less than satisfactory if you're playing on Android. The developers at Jagex are taking note of the bugs reported by users and working on updates to make the experience more stable. In other words, if you want to explore the world with your friends, you may have to wait a little longer. Or go to Old School version about the game.
