Motorola's best-selling smartphone in 2010, the year it was launched with a focus on durability and resistance, the Defy may be back on the shelves after more than a decade. At least that's what the people at 91Mobiles discovered, thanks to the leaker Ishan Agarwal, who reported having caught the old acquaintance on the platforms Geekbench e Google Play Console.
According to Agarwal, the world's first dust- and water-resistant smartphone will also focus on durability upon its return. The leaker did not say exactly which markets the Motorola Defy will be making its return to, but he did make it clear that the model will certainly be sold outside its native India.
Possible specifications
There are still no confirmed specifications about how the Motorola Defy might return on the inside, but some bets have already started to be made. Regarding the processor, the idea is to use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 662, which would be accompanied by 4 GB of RAM and the Android 10 operating system.
This configuration matches and confirms what had been seen on the Motorola Athena in February of this year. The Athena, in fact, was being referred to as the Motorola Defy in its first appearances on foreign websites. A 5000 mAh battery is also being considered to equip the “new old” Motorola model.
Just to remind you, the original Motorola Defy, launched in 2010, had a small screen, measuring just 3,7 inches, and a single 5-megapixel camera on the back. In terms of design, early information suggests that it may be similar to the Moto G9 and G9 Play, but for now, nothing is official about how (and when) the Motorola Defy will actually return.
The return of the popular Defy could help Motorola increasingly consolidate its second place in the Brazilian market, if it comes to market here. Recent figures pointed out that the brand grew 35% in the quarter and already has 26,6% of the market in the country.
