in tests since March, Twitter's improved image cropping is finally a reality. The social network has faced controversy last year, after an investigation by users themselves went viral, revealing that the algorithm could prioritize white people over black people in media previews.
With the new tool, however, the platform's official aim is to offer bigger and better images, in the words of the announcement promoted by the blue bird's official account. But the fact is that offering a wider preview reduces the chances of important objects and details being left out of users' timelines.
The improved image cropping feature is being officially rolled out to Twitter's Android and iOS apps, but the network has not disclosed how. It may be allowing anyone with the updated software to access this new setting, or it may be rolling it out in phases, remotely, regardless of user action.

New releases and upcoming releases
This is a new feature that arrives shortly after the launch from Twitter Spaces for all those with more than 600 users. Another change, still in testing, involves the incorporation from YouTube videos on the platform. Other plans for the social network also involve a community system and the Super Follow.
With this new image viewing model, users may see less content at a time in their feed. Nowadays, however, it is not uncommon for new smartphones to hit the market with screens with a 20:9 aspect ratio or higher. The more “stretched” vertical format enhances the experience of social apps, such as Twitter itself, by providing more information at a time.
The new image view works when the user posts a single file per tweet. The social network allows up to four at a time, but then cropping will be limited as is common today. It is worth remembering that the platform, in addition to improving file cropping, also improved the quality where uploads can be made up to 4K. This feature was tested in beta but is now available to everyone. Learn more how to upload images in this resolution.
