We've seen it all here, including smartphones with batteries. 7000 mAh, but unfortunately every battery has a useful lifespan. In other words, they degrade over time, some taking even longer than others, depending on the quality and care of each user. Knowing that traditional smartphone batteries can lose an average of 20% of their capacity after just 1 year of use, recently, Samsung has been testing a new technology to increase this useful life for future cell phones. According to the study, today's batteries use the component Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF) in their negative terminals. Current technology causes batteries to lose about 35% of their original factory capacity after 500 recharges.
Longer lifespan
The Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology has brought together scientists to take part in a research project that is working on technology that aims to make the “batteries of the future” retain up to 95% of their capacity for more than five years of use. The material allows the battery to withstand more than 1.700 recharges, losing only 5% of its original capacity (much more effective than current batteries) and has a very complicated name: Bis-imino-acenaphthenequinone-Paraphenylene.
Noriyoshi Matsumi (the professor responsible for the research) stated: “Creating durable batteries will help in the development of more reliable products for long-term use. This will encourage consumers to buy more expensive battery-based assets, such as electric vehicles, that will be used for many years.” It is also worth mentioning that this new technology can be applied to various devices such as notebooks and tablets.
