Samsung's flagship in the first half of last year, the Galaxy S20 is receiving a software update focused on its cameras. With it, users will be able to get a taste of features that have been temporarily exclusive of the new S21 flagship lineup. The download package is heavy.

It is in Germany that the South Korean company began releasing the firmware G98XXXXU7DUC7, which in the update notes does not reveal much, despite being 500 MB. It is after installation that the most attentive user will notice interesting changes in the photography software, the main beneficiary of this patch.

Of course, there's the usual warning that the update improves stability and fixes bugs, but camera features also arrive for the S20, such as the ability to capture images in portrait mode in low-light conditions, in addition to the addition of the ultrawide sensor in Pro mode. This sensor has also received optimizations to work better with night mode, and the background blur gets three new filters: one that cuts out the photographed object and inserts it into colored backgrounds, and two others for more professional black and white images (high and light-key mono).

What was left out?

Unfortunately, the update for the S20's cameras doesn't bring Director's View mode, which allows recording through multiple lenses. It's possible that Samsung is reserving this update for a future date, or that it has been left aside due to its impossibility of implementing it on older devices.

Distributed abroad, the update has not shown any signs of being distributed in Brazil. This may take some time, but the important thing is that Samsung continues to pay attention to older products, which is part of its new policy of providing three years of OS updates for a series of smartphones, in addition to four years of security patches for all.
