All about the best cell phones

As much as the Samsung Galaxy Fold and Huawei Mate X are the biggest memories when we talk about the first foldable smartphones, the Royole Flexpai was right there with them, but with less money for marketing. A new generation of the Chinese foldable was recently launched, and its design was borrowed from Vertu to bring the Ayxta Fold to life.

In China, it is quite common to manufacture white label devices, which are product designs given to more than one brand. This practice is very common in the entry-level segment, but it does not prevent Royole from lending the qualities of its foldable device to the European Vertu, which relaunched it with a revamped exterior, with a luxurious feel. Inside, however, things are the same: the powerful — but no longer so current — Snapdragon 865, 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage.

Flashy connectivity

In addition, the Vertu Ayxta Fold has a 7.8-inch screen with full HD resolution when fully opened, as well as a facial recognition sensor, on-screen biometric reading, 18W fast charging, wireless charging, 5G, Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 6, USB-C 3.1 and NFC, quite complete in terms of connectivity. On the other hand, the battery is not surprising: it is 4.450mAh. Conventional top-of-the-line smartphones can already offer the same capacity or even more, in a more compact body, and with less screen to power…

While the specs are quite robust, of course the most interesting thing for the consumer here is the fact that the Vertu Ayxta Fold is foldable. Just like the Royole Flexpai 2, the product relies on the same premise as Huawei with the Mate X, a single-screen device, whose second half of the display is hidden behind the device. It may not be the best idea in terms of preserving the phone in the long term, but it allows the same camera housing to be used for both conventional photographs and selfies.

Running WaterOS 2.0, the Vertu Ayxta Fold not only arrives with an old processor, but also an operating system, which has Android 10 instead of 11. To be sold in black, gray, red, orange and blue, the device has an interesting color variation, but had a very discreet launch. No big announcement from Vertu or Royole. Even so, it is already listed as unavailable. in Chinese e-commerce for an unbelievable CNY 458 thousand (R$ 43 thousand in direct conversion today, 02/03).
