Have you ever experienced option paralysis? It’s when you’re left standing in front of a supermarket shelf for minutes. Or after finishing a movie or series, you can’t decide what to watch next. After hearing people complain about exactly this, Netflix is ​​creating a mode that automatically suggests what to watch.

Also called Shuffle Play, the suggested mode will be expanded to all users of the Netflix in the world in the first half of this year. It's like broadcast TV: you turn it on and forget about it. The company did not go into details, but highlighted that the personalization algorithm automatically shows content that it believes the user will like, according to their history (what they watched, watched or saved to the list).

The mode that suggests what to watch has been tested with some users around the world and, according to a letter from the company to shareholders, the result was very positive. For now, this feature can only be found on television, which appears as a large button on the home screen, below the user's profile icon.

In the side menu, the user also finds the “Random Play” option that selects series and films for them to watch without having to search.

This isn't the first time Netflix has created a mode that suggests what users should watch. In 2019, the company experimented with a random mode in which, when selecting a series, the program would play a random episode.

A Netflix also promoted its programs through trailers on the login screen and as screensavers. Last year, due to user demand to stop this automatic playback, automatic viewing was stopped.
