The new line of processors from Apple, the A models, are performing very well in some tests. However, some features of the products cause them to overheat and not deliver all the possible speed. Now, a patent reveals a way to make the iPhone run faster using MagSafe technology.

Small, fast and hot

Just 5nm. That's the size of the A14 Bionic processor from Apple which is present in the iPhone 12 models, a 2nm reduction compared to its predecessor. And the tiny chip is powerful and can perform 11 trillion operations per second. 

But such power comes with its drawbacks. The small size and lack of a cooling system to match cause the nanoprocessors to overheat the smartphones. Apparently, Apple virtually reduced the resource potential to avoid problems with the temperature reached. 

A new patent has revealed that the Apple is working on a system that uses MagSafe technology to disable the limitation in the processor. The idea of ​​the project is to allow the magnetic resource to recognize cases with a cooling system and, thus, release the full potential of the chip.

The document does not provide further details on how the innovation will work. However, it is known that while the phone is using the cooling case, the virtual limitation of the A14 will be disabled. This means that the processor can work at full speed, making the phone faster, as it will have the means to maintain its temperature. When the case is removed, the limitation is activated again. 

It's basically the same principle as PC overclocking. Your processor can run faster at the cost of higher temperatures, and to do that you need to deal with that temperature.

Since this is just a patent, it is not certain that the technology will reach the market (as has happened in the past). This means that we cannot expect a release date yet. However, we can already answer the question: yes, MagSafe technology can make the iPhone faster.
