A leak has revealed some details about the Surface Duo, the dual-screen smartphone introduced by Microsoft last year. According to the source consulted by the website Windows Central, the smartphone will be equipped with a Snapdragon 855 processor and will have 6 GB of RAM, with versions of 64 and 256 GB of capacity.
We already know that it will have two 5,6-inch screens, and according to the information, they would be AMOLED with a resolution of 1800 x 1350 pixels, 4:3 aspect ratio and a density of 401 pixels per inch.
Snapdragon 855 processor and a single camera
It should not have 5G connectivity, but rather 4G LTE. This would be the reason for not having the Snapdragon 865, which needs a 5G modem that could make the smartphone more expensive. The smartphone's battery should be 3460 mAh with fast charging (not yet specified). In addition, the smartphone should have a USB-C connector.
According to the leak, it will only have an 11-inch camera with an F/2.0 aperture. Since it has a 360° articulation, the same camera could be used to take selfies and other photos. It is worth remembering that Panos Panay, who is the product director of the Microsoft Devices group, posted on his Instagram profile an image taken with the Surface Duo camera.
Also according to the information, the test version does not have wireless charging or NFC. Of course, these specifications may be revised before launch, but everything indicates that the smartphone will not have these features.
It will launch with Android 10, but should get an update to Android 11 soon. The launch is initially scheduled for expected for the end of this year. There is still no estimate of how much the Surface Duo could cost.
The company has encouraged its programmers to start creating solutions and adapting their programs to the two-screen system, launching an SDK and a blog dedicated to the Surface Duo, in addition to a emulador so they can test their applications.
Yesterday, the company released a guide to develop apps for Surface Duo with Flutter Of google.
