YouTube Premium will show you how much you watched without ads

November 12th, 2020

YouTube has been undergoing a number of changes recently (but of course the blackout yesterday was not one of them). In addition to the new icons In its app version, the new feature is now the possibility of checking usage data for the video platform. The function is available to YouTube Premium users, who will have a report of the number of hours of videos watched without ads, for example.

Other data offered by the YouTube Premium subscription are the number of videos watched offline through downloads; as well as the number of hours of videos watched with the screen off, as if the video were a podcast. In addition, the total hours listened to music on YouTube Music will also be available to users of the premium version of the platform.

This availability of user data was clearly intended to show YouTube Premium subscribers how important their subscription is to them. After all, it's quite satisfying to watch a video without interruptions from commercials.

For Google, it is also important that the paid version of the platform has more and more subscribers. Another fact that points in this direction was the distribution of Google Stadia subscriptions for YouTube Premium users earlier this week. Whatever the reason, YouTube Premium wants its users to know how many ad-free hours they've watched.
