Now that there is finally a forecast for the cell phone luxurious Xperia 1 III hits the market, the European division from the manufacturer brought a forecast for the Xperia 5 III — which also It was already announced. With a smaller screen and maintaining most of the premium features, the model is also a flagship — and will be launched in selected markets in September.
The Xperia 5 line was created to offer the same top-of-the-line experience as the Xperia 1 in a more compact body. In this third iteration, the devices will also differ in terms of features: for example, Sony has added a 6,1-inch OLED panel with Full HD resolution — not 4K. In addition, Gorilla Glass Victus has been replaced by Gorilla Glass 6. While maintaining the camera configuration and the Snapdragon 888 processor, the model can be configured with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage — compared to up to 12 GB / 256 GB of the larger flagship.
By pushing the launch of the Xperia 5 III to September, Sony seems to be trying not to cannibalize the market within its own catalog: this is because the Xperia 1 III is already on pre-sale, with deliveries scheduled for August. The Japanese company could focus its efforts on the smaller top of the range in the following month, which also has a slightly lower price.
While the Xperia 1 III is launched at €1,3 (R$7.757 in direct conversion today, 02/07), the Xperia 5 III will be launched in September at €1 (R$5.967). Both are quite expensive — but separated by a difference of €300.
It is worth remembering that none of the Xperia smartphones will be available in Brazil. Sony had already stopped selling its cell phones in Brazil a few years ago, and in 2021 closed the work at its factory in Manaus and stopped selling audio accessories, cameras, and Smart TVs in Brazil.
