A new version of the Redmi Note 8 could hit the market in the coming months, despite already having been discontinued in Brazil, possibly preparing the ground for the launch of the Redmi Note 10 line, which arrived this month. Polish leaker Kacper Skrzypek, a developer and product tester for Xiaomi, discovered information about the smartphone's registration with the FCC (US Federal Communications Commission) and shared a screenshot of the database on his Twitter account on Thursday (13/05). The model appears with the number “M1908C3GG”.

On the same day, another Xiaomi insider on Twitter, the profile @Xiaomiui, shared new information in which the cell phone appears under the nickname “Biloba” with the same configurations, but with another labeling – “M1908C3JI”. According to the account, the cell phone should be launched soon in regional markets such as the European Union and Russia.

Specifications of the possible new version of Redmi Note 8
The new version of the Redmi Note 8 will have a MediaTek Helio G85 processor, with 4 GB of RAM and 64/128 GB of flash memory. In the leaked data, the refresh rate of the IPS LCD screen appears to be 120Hz, but this is unlikely to happen, as the Helio G85 only supports half the value.
The camera setup features a 48-megapixel main sensor and three more cameras: a wide-angle, a macro, and a depth sensor. The battery is 4000 mAh, with 22,5W fast charging, while the operating system follows Android (it's not yet clear which version, but possibly it will come with Android 11) with MIUI 12.5 interface.
The Redmi Note 8 was the best-selling Android phone on the planet in the last semester without a pandemic. Launched in September 2019, Xiaomi's device beat Samsung's Galaxy A10 and A20 at the time, and came with an octa-core Snapdragon 665 processor and a 6,3-inch screen.
It is worth mentioning that there are still no details about the price and release date of the new Redmi Note 8. The registration with the certification bodies, however, indicates that Xiaomi should release this information soon.
