Tim Cook: “There has never been a moment with as much potential as today”
In celebration of the 45th anniversary of the founding of Apple, the company's current CEO Tim Cook sent a motivational memo to all company employees. The full email was published by the French website MacGeneration.
“On April 1, 1976, a company was formed in Cupertino to create transformative products that redefine what technology can achieve, and make people’s lives better in the process. Forty-five years later, we mark that occasion by rededicating ourselves to that mission, and keeping it alive for a long time to come, rather than fondly remembering it as a thing of the past,” Tim Cook wrote at the beginning of the memo.
After mentioning the many products of Apple that “changed the face of education and productivity”, as well as health as the Apple Watch, the CEO wrote that the company has never stopped setting the pace for others to follow. “What I can tell you with certainty is that there has never been a moment with more potential than today, and we have never had a more talented and dedicated team.”
Better days will come
Cook also spoke about how the past year “tested us in ways we never imagined,” and how 2020 required determination and commitment in life matters beyond work. “Through a once-in-a-generation challenge, the things we did, and how we did them, revealed deep and enduring new sources of value for the people who rely on them. And on so many fronts, we know that better days lie ahead.”
Tim Cook ends the memo with a quote from Steve Jobs when he first joined the company. “It’s been an incredible journey so far, but it’s only just begun.” To that, the CEO added: “Remember that none of us will be around for the end of the story, but it’s our job to make sure it’s a story worth telling.”
As pointed out by the MacRumors, this year the Apple should announce new products such as silicone notebooks and desktops, updates to AirPods, iPads and iPhones, the progress of its mixed reality headset, from smart glasses Apple Ice cream, and even a car that drives itself.
