Sony Music Brasil launches Montero, a mobile game inspired by Lil Nas X's music video

Sony Music Brazil has launched Montero, a mobile and desktop game inspired by music Montero (Call Me By Your Name) by Lil Nas X, who rose to fame through a song that went viral on TikTok.

By clicking on game link, the user needs to log in to their preferred streaming platform, Spotify or Deezer. To start playing, just choose between the avatar of the Lil Nas X from a pink-haired angel to a red-braided devil, and begin your pole-dancing journey to the depths of hell to steal the throne from the Devil himself.

In the game Montero, the user must help Lil Nas X pole dance and avoid obstacles such as harps, chains and pink clouds by clicking on the corners of the phone or the arrows on the keyboard. If one of the obstacles hits your avatar, you fall straight to hell and it's game over. The entire experience takes place to the sound of Lil Nas X's song of the same name.

Whether you win or lose, the platform generates a specific card that the user can share on their social networks. The game is also translated into English.

As Sony Music says in the release, the music video that inspired the game was co-directed by LNX with Tanu Muino, with production by UnderWonder Content and special effects by Mathematic. The video already has more than 187 million views on YouTube.

According to a Sony Music release, “Montero (Call Me By Your Name) is Lil Nas X’s most revealing musical contribution to date. The track was produced by Take a DayTrip, Omer Fedi and Roy Enzo and is an honest, vulnerable, yet confident narrative of who Montero has become.” The release continues, “Based on a concept dreamed up by Lil Nas X himself, the music video is filled with biblical references and nods to Greek mythology, while offering his own personal story of temptation, trial and standing in the full power of his sexuality.”
