Snapdragon 870 could be an overclocked version of the 865

The tipster Digital Chat Station, known for leaking cell phone information on his profile on the Chinese social network Weibo, gave indications that the Snapdragon 870 processor should be launched soon. And, more than that, he also reports that the 870 is nothing more than an overclocked version of the Snapdragon 865.

Today, the same Digital Chat Station shared some more information about the Snapdragon 870. The tipster revealed that the Snapdragon 870 is an overclocked version of the 865. It will not only offer faster CPU speeds, but will also have better GPU (graphics processor) performance compared to the 865 chip.

If the information is confirmed, the overclocked version of the chip could work at a frequency of up to 3,2 GHz, with the GPU at 905 MHz. This is a good difference compared to the Adreno 650 GPU of the Snapdragon 865, which works at 600 MHz.

Which smartphone could debut the Snapdragon 870?

Oppo's Snapdragon 870-powered phone is likely to go official at the launch following the Reno 5 lineup. As the Reno5 should arrive in December with Snapdragon 865, the device with Snapdragon 870 would be for the first quarter of next year.
