Snapdragon 865+ launched with 3GHz and Wi-Fi 6E support

As expected, Qualcomm officially launched its new Snapdragon 865+ processor today, which is clocked at up to 3,1 GHz and supports Wi-Fi 6E.

The CPU continues to feature eight Kryo 585 cores, but the clock has now been increased to 3,1GHz, an increase of 10%. The Adreno 650 GPU has also been overclocked, with the same 10%. 5G connectivity is provided by the Snapdragon X55 5G modem, just like the Snapdragon 865.

It features the FastConnect 6900 connectivity chip, which was introduced last month alongside the FastConnect 6700, and supports not only Wi-Fi 6E, but also Bluetooth 5.2. The FastConnect 6900 offers download speeds of up to 3,6Gbps, with two simultaneous traffic bands, plus low latency.

The new processor is expected to be initially launched in gaming smartphones such as the Lenovo Legion Phone, which is expected to arrive this month, and also in the ROG Phone 3 from Asus, which will be launched on the 22nd. Qualcomm's new processor is also expected to equip the Note 20 line, which Samsung will launch on August 5th.
