Samsung, in partnership with Glover, has decided to innovate and announced a cell phone rental service. That's right, from now on, anyone who wants to parade around the streets of Germany with a top-of-the-line Galaxy cell phone can opt to rent it instead of buying it.
The idea is to captivate customers who are already fans of the brand and, of course, win over others who prefer to join the brand's loyalty plans. Apple, which allow you to change your iPhone whenever a new model of the company's top of the line is launched on the market – which happens at least once a year.
So far, only smartphones in the line Galaxy S20 are available in the smartphone rental service in Germany, but the South Korean company already has a plan in development to gradually add other models of the brand to the “menu” (will the From Fold 2 or the Notes 20 can also be rented one day?)
How much does it cost to rent a Samsung cell phone in Germany?
Samsung's basic idea for winning over customers with its cell phone rental service in Germany is as simple as possible: the longer the contract period, the lower the monthly amount paid by customers eager to enjoy a flagship smartphone without having to spend a lot of money.
The plans available so far can be contracted for 1, 3, 6 or 12 months, with the possibility of renewal. The cell phone models available for rent in partnership with Grover are, in order: Samsung Galaxy S20FE, Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+ and Galaxy S20 Ultra. Prices for the S20 FE, the cheapest available, range from 60 euros (R$ 365) for a one-month contract to 30 euros (R$ 183) for a 12-month plan (the longer the term, the lower the price, remember?).
The Galaxy S20 Ultra, the top model available for cell phone rental at the moment, costs 120 euros (R$ 732) for a one-month subscription plan, 100 euros (R$ 612) for a three-month contract, 80 euros (R$ 488) for a six-month contract and 70 euros (R$ 428) for the longest term, a one-year rental.
For now, Samsung is only offering the cell phone rental service in Germany, but it is possible that it will be expanded to other countries.
The South Korean company warns, at the time of the contract, that other services, such as Samsung Up, Samsung Care+ or Trade-in, cannot be combined with the rental service for now, but that these possibilities are being studied.
