AMD has announced its full portfolio of Ryzen 5000 Series Mobile Processors, bringing the 7nm (nanometer) construction architecture called Zen 3 for the notebook market. The new AMD Ryzen 5000 Series mobile processors are designed for high-performance notebooks and are targeted at gamers, content creators and professionals who need powerful machines.
The company also said at CES 2021 that new laptops powered by AMD Ryzen 5000 Series CPUs will be available from leading PC manufacturers including ASUS, HP and Lenovo in Q2021 150. The company expects a broad portfolio of more than 5000 consumer and business laptops based on Ryzen XNUMX Series mobile processors.
AMD promises high performance with great battery life
During the event, AMD CEO Lisa Su said that one of the processors, the Ryzen 7 5800U, is the most powerful CPU ever and the only eight-core x86 processor for ultrathin laptops with a 15W (watts) thermal package. In terms of power efficiency, the Ryzen 7 5800U can achieve a battery life of up to 17,5 hours with general use and up to 21 hours of video playback.
Lisa also provoked her rival Intel commenting that "The Ryzen 7 5800U far outperforms the 7th Gen Core i1185-7G11 by 44% in video encoding in Adobe Premiere and 39% in Blender 3D Ray Tracing.” Blender 3D is a software for rendering videos and creating 3D models.
For high-performance gaming laptops, AMD has focused on the Ryzen HX series. Ryzen HX processors have higher thermal specifications, up to 45W, and will be unlocked for overclocking. The top-of-the-line Ryzen 9 5900HX is capable of increasing single-thread performance by up to 23% and multi-thread performance by up to 17% faster than the previous generation. A thread, in a processor, is a thread of execution of tasks. Each processor can run multiple threads at once, dividing tasks between them and executing instructions more quickly.
To complete the presentation at CES 2021, AMD reported that it expects a 50% increase in the presence of these processors in laptops compared to the previous generation.
