Plex, the company responsible for media sharing software Plex Media Server, announced a partnership with Atari to create an arcade game service for users of Android smartphones, iPhones, iPads and MacBooks.
Plex Media Server is a software that allows you to share files between devices on the same network. This means you can play images, videos and music stored on your computer on your smartphone, TV or video game. The software is free, but to access the advanced features you need to pay a subscription fee of R$14,99 per month.
Plex Arcade Has Another Monthly Subscription
Plex Arcade is a standalone service with its own monthly subscription. The initiative by Plex and Atari aims to bring the company's classic video games to the new generation. According to the developer, to have access to all of the service's ROMS, an additional subscription of US$2,99 (R$16) is required for those who are already Plex subscribers, or US$5 (R$27) for those who want access to just the games.
Atari games are compatible with USB and Bluetooth controllers, like the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One models, and can be connected to both computers and Macs, as well as smartphones. Check out the service launch video below.
Plex Arcade also bundles other emulators
According to Plex, in addition to the Atari catalog, Plex Arcade also works as an aggregator of other emulators and ROMs available on your computer. Thus, it is possible to catalog other titles and retro consoles, including the option of streaming of games.
