OnePlus 8T Cyberpunk Edition: watch the hands-on video
The Asian market has a habit of creating alternative versions of flagship smartphones in order to appeal to very specific market niches. The OnePlus 8T Cyberpunk Edition, however, promises to stand out from this premise by putting more effort into its creation than its competitors, which are mostly just repaints of smartphones already on the market.
According to a first impressions video of the device, published by the XDA Developers website, the OnePlus 8T Cyberpunk Edition does not just bring a visual reinterpretation of an already established device. For this exclusive top of the line, OnePlus preferred to develop an exclusive presentation, with a different design and parts made of different materials of its “standard” counterpart.
The technical specifications are the same: the OnePlus 8T Cyberpunk Edition has the capacity for two nano chips (dual SIM) and a HydrogenOS operating system based on Android 11. The 6,55-inch display has FullHD+ resolution (1080×2400 pixels), AMOLES screen format with 120Hz renewal, 20:9 aspect ratio frame and 402ppi pixel density.
This device comes equipped with a Snapdragon 865 processor (Qualcomm) and Adreno 650 GPU, accompanied by 12 GB of RAM (LPDDR4X) and 256 GB of internal storage.
In terms of cameras, the OnePlus 8T Cyberpunk 2077 Limited Edition features a 471 MP Sony IMX16 (F/2.4) sensor in its front module, aligned with the upper left corner of the screen (punch hole format). The rear module features a 48-megapixel main sensor (Sony IMX586, F/1.7), a second 16-megapixel wide-angle sensor (Sony IMX481, f/2.2 lens), a five-megapixel macro sensor, and finally a 2-megapixel monochrome sensor.

XDA Developers highlights how the new device differs from OnePlus' usual format of packaging its products in a way that makes unboxing easier. Here, the company chose to follow the aesthetics of the game from which it takes its name – Cyberpunk 2077, by Polish developer CD Projekt Red – trying to allude to the entire visual experience of the game on the device.
The rear camera module is gigantic, taking up practically the entire upper part of the phone, which, although it has the same configuration as the standard OnePlus 8T, restyles the visual presentation by adding more notable details that stand out to the eye. In addition, when the device is turned on, the entire design also follows the visual motifs of the game, and even the notification system has sounds relevant to the game's production.
The OnePlus 8T Cyberpunk Edition is available exclusively in China, so it doesn't come with the usual Google apps. But XDA Developers doesn't seem to have missed them, at least in these first impressions.
