The Danish company Bang & Olufsen, famous for its luxury products, has just launched its new headphones called Beoplay HX. In addition to the audio quality characteristic of the company's luxury headphones, with bass reinforcement, and the salty price, the new headphones have a battery life that can reach a considerable 40 hours of use.
A new feature of the Beoplay HX is the new active noise cancellation (ANC) system, which uses the four microphones built into the headphones to reduce external ambient sounds. Of the four microphones on the headphones, two are used as audio input sources. In theory, this should also provide high sound quality in video calls or voice recordings; in practice, we still need to wait for performance tests and reviews of the product. But what was most noticeable about Bang & Olufsen headphones, which has nothing to do with the sound itself, is their battery. According to the company, if noise cancellation remains off, the headphones can last up to 40 hours of use. With noise cancellation turned on, however, the battery life decreases a little, reaching 35 hours. This is something really unexpected for headphones like this. And it raises some skepticism. Although this represents a much longer usage time compared to the competition — the AirPods Max, for example, have a battery life of 20 hours — the proclaimed 20 hours of use of another model from the brand, the Beoplay H9, were limited to 14 hours of actual use.
Unfortunately, it's not cheap. The headphones will start at $499, which is equivalent to about R$2800, excluding taxes and import duties. In other words, the price of the new headphones is the same as the Beoplay H9 at the time of its launch. For now, they will only be available in black, although two more colors are planned, which can be seen below.
Beoplay HX still features leather on most devices and the touch control on the right side. The touch control, by the way, was the target of complaints in previous models and, once again, this may have been taken into account. But Bang & Olufsen did not mention anything specific in this regard.
In addition, the headphones have Bluetooth 5.2 as well as support for dual connectivity, meaning they can connect to two devices at the same time. The quick pairing systems of the Google and the ecosystem are present on the device, which also has a 3,5mm input, the connection cable for which is included in the box. In the meantime, we wait to see if the Beoplay HX lives up to its luxury price tag.
