New emojis are expected to arrive in Google Chat in the coming weeks

Google Chat recently gained the option to pin conversations and also the possibility of viewing Hangouts group chats on the platform. Now, it will give users a nice update in the emoji field, with new characters. The 13.1 package will feature 217 new reactions and figures, many of them focused on inclusion and diversity.

The new set will include, for example, gender neutral and skin tone. The latter can even be saved individually, if you want to use the same reaction for people of different skin tones. new emojis may also include a pregnant man, finger pointing and much more.

These emojis, in particular, were first discussed last month, on the eve of the World Emoji Day, celebrated on July 17. It is worth remembering that many of the updates may not be available immediately. The previous forecast indicated that Google Pixel users would start receiving them in September.

iOS users will have to wait

The developers plan to make the new emojis available to Google Chat users on Android in the coming weeks. If you're used to using iOS, you'll have to wait a little longer, as these updates aren't yet fully ready for that system.

According to Google, the new emoji pack for Google Chat will be available to all Google Workspace customers, as well as G Suite Basic and Business customers. The exact date when the new emojis and reactions will be available will be effectively released, however, has not yet been provided by the company.

It is worth remembering that this year we did not have the traditional update from the Unicode Consortium, which standardizes new emojis worldwide, not just for use in Google Chat. Usually, new figures are released in the first half of the year, but this time this was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It is quite possible that we will only see new emojis in September.
