The city of São Paulo underwent a major change in the Blue Zone system last Monday (15). Estapar began managing the new system in November 2020 and is now the only company authorized to sell the parking credits.
The purchase and activation of credits on the Digital Blue Card is done by Estapar New Blue Zone-SP application, on the official website, or at accredited outlets in local stores.
If you have a Digital Blue Card on another app, you need to register with Estapar Nova Zona Azul-SP. Within 48 hours of registering, you can check your History in the Menu. There, you will be able to transfer your card. Estapar guarantees that it is working with third-party companies to transfer these credits by February 28th. Until then, you can still use the remaining credits on the old apps, but to buy more, you can only do so on the new one.
New system
Remember those payment slips you could buy at the newsstand? They no longer exist either, but in this case the change is not new. Since 2017, São Paulo has adopted a digital system, with several apps. Now, everything is only available at Estapar Nova Zona Azul-SP.
With the new app you still have some new features that were not present in all the old apps that sold credits, such as the ability to view your location on a map and the occupancy level of vacancies at your destination, which helps when choosing where to stop. There are also alerts that let you know when your balance is running out.
Remember that all other apps, even Vaga Inteligente, from Estapar itself, will no longer sell blue zone credits. If you don't have the app or don't want to use a credit card, you can go to accredited sales points and pay in cash. You don't need the app at these locations. To find a sales point, just look on the Estapar website.
But how does the supervision in the digital system? Well, when you buy credits, your vehicle's license plate is registered in a system and that's how the agents know if you have the right to park in that spot, without the need for the paper on the windshield.

- Confirm the purchase and information and the activation receipt will be displayed on the screen.
