Nokia 110: basic cell phone arrives in Brazil with local production
HMD Global has announced the launch of the Nokia 110, an updated version of the “basicão”, manufactured in Brazil. The device comes with an MP3 player, memory card slot, FM radio, games (remember Snake, a hit from Nokia in another life?) and a long-lasting (removable) battery to handle it all.

The Nokia 110 is, as like Nokia 1.4 e the Nokia 3650, a very basic cell phone, made especially for those who are nostalgic, or for those who believe that today's smartphones do too many things. According to Junior Favaro, sales and marketing director at HMD Global in Brazil, the device is for those who want a “detox from social networks and still stay in touch with those they love”. Thus, Nokia's basic cell phone only has GSM connectivity, which is adequate for its purpose. In fact, the model seems to be for those who like same talking on the phone: with a single charge, the user can talk all day.
At 14,3mm thick, the Nokia 110 has a small 1,7-inch screen. The Nokia 110's design is well-known, and it also promises to be very durable. If I may use an old joke, it's the kind of phone that if you drop it on the floor, the floor will break.
In addition, Nokia's new entry-level phone has a rear-facing camera (with QVGA resolution) and an FM radio, which can be tuned in via the headphones. Want to listen to music? You'll have to save your own music to the card, but you'll be able to listen to it for a long time on the Nokia 110, up to 27 hours of music and 18 hours of radio, according to HMD Global.
The launch also brings games straight from the factory, such as the aforementioned classic Snake, in addition to Ninja Up, Air Strike, Football Cup and Doodle Jump. The device has 4 GB of internal memory and support for microSD cards of up to 32 GB.
Nokia's bet on feature phones
Despite being basic, the phone has “music, games and the essentials for everyday life that you expect from a Nokia phone,” according to the executive. He also says that “20% of all feature phones produced in the world are made by HMD Global,” showing how the company takes the basic segment seriously.
The big appeal of this device, of course, is its price. The Nokia 110 doesn't disappoint in this regard, and costs R$169 at Nokia Online Store and in the main retailers in Brazil.
