Motorola Dimensity 720 with 5G connectivity spotted on Geekbench

April 13th 2021

Motorola has invested heavily in the Moto G line, whose primary strategy is to offer mid-range phones with some advanced features at acceptable prices. Based on this principle, after the launch of the Moto G10 and G30, in addition to the approval of the G60 in Brazil, a new Motorola with Dimensity 720 appeared on Geekbench. And the best part is that it has 5G.

For now, the only name we have for the device is the one listed on the website, Motorola Alps, which could be launched as one of Motorola's cheapest 5G smartphones. Currently, however, the cheapest 5G position goes to Moto G50, a basic phone exclusive to Europe — and it's quite possible that this won't change any time soon, since as far as we know the new phone doesn't seem to be that entry-level.

More questions than answers

However, another model launched with 5G was the Moto G100, a smartphone with Snapdragon 870 and consequently the most powerful and expensive of the company's recent launches. What all this may indicate is that we may have three different 5G phones from Motorola, with the G50 being the most basic of them, the G100 the most powerful and the Alps would be an intermediate between the 5G ones. But it is also possible that it will be launched in another line, or that it will not even be that much cheaper than the G100, for example. It is still too early to know for sure.

Other features of this new Motorola highlighted by the website include its 6 GB of RAM and native support for Android 11, which, in the case of the company here in Brazil, includes up to indigenous languages. In addition, the cell phone managed to achieve 2353 and 6195 points in the single-core and multi-core tests, respectively.

We can think, however, that the Motorola Alps should have at least 128 GB of internal storage, judging by the Dimensity 720 processor, present in the ZTE S30 with 256 GB of storage. In fact, based on the latest leaks of other Motorola phones, it seems that the company is trying to improve its cameras and this may be confirmed in this new model as well.
