Moto G may come with Snapdragon 888 in 2021

December 3, 2020

The new Snapdragon 888 will also arrive on Motorola smartphones in 2021. The company had announced that the line M, focused on mid-range devices with good cost-benefit, would gain a device with a Qualcomm 800 series chip.

At the time, it was speculated that the model would come equipped with the 865 or 865+ version. However, the phone could also be launched with the more powerful version of the chipset. According to GSM Arena, Motorola plans to invest in the Snapdragon 888 in the line M to make the device more competitive in the market. Recently, the manufacturer announced the Moto G 5G with the same intention.

Evolution of the series

It is worth remembering that one of the most current versions of the line, the Moto G9 Plus, comes with the Snapdragon 730G chip, so it's a big leap for the series to move up a notch to the Snapdragon 888.

Sergio Buniac, Motorola Senior Vice President, told the news during the Snapdragon Tech Summit, reinforcing the partnership with Qualcomm. In his words: “Motorola’s 5G smartphones are now available with more than 100 partner operators around the world, reinforcing our commitment to spreading and democratizing 5G.”

In addition to the G line, another device that should receive Qualcomm's most modern chipset is the next motorcycle edge. Motorola returned to the top of the range in 2020 after abandoning the Moto X line, and the brand's new premium should gain a successor next year.

Everything indicates that the manufacturer, one of the most active in Brazil, is really investing in increasingly updated models, and a Moto G with Snapdragon 888 would be an important leap.
