Microsoft has released a new update for users of MS Office on Android in the United States, which allows voice transcription of text for creating notes. According to the company, the feature, which is well-known to desktop users, will allow you to easily capture and transcribe voice recordings on your phone, as well as share them with other devices that also support Office.
According to MS, the feature uses the same voice recognition dynamics as virtual assistants so that Office can transcribe texts. It also has other features such as text highlighting synchronized with the desktop versions of Office, as well as the possibility of sharing your recordings with other applications. Microsoft 365, like Power Point, for example.
If you are a Microsoft 365 subscriber, the feature will also allow you to partition and transcribe audio from inputs from different speakers, this feature can be very useful for those conducting interviews or looking to transcribe conversations.
How to use the feature on Android
According to Microsoft, the text-to-speech transcription feature will be available on Android starting with version 16.0.14026.200096 of the app. The Vida Celular found that the Google Play Store Brazil has not yet made this update available to all users, so the new feature should reach Brazilians soon.
To use the voice transcription feature, you need to download the latest version of Microsoft Office for Android from the Play Store. Then, tap the + button at the bottom of the home tab in the app and select the new voice option in the Quick Capture section. It will then start recording you, and you can simply speak and the app will transcribe your voice into text.
