Every year, Microsoft releases a report on its sustainable actions. This practice has become increasingly common among technology giants, such as Microsoft itself. Google.
This year, the report came in a different format: with the usual text, a new map for Minecraft was released. This will, through the immersion that only a game allows, explain what sustainability is.
Called Sustainability City, the map is already part of the educational edition of the game, aimed at teachers and students. In addition, the original version of the game will also feature the map, which will be available for free today (28/01).

Seeing in practice
The Sustainability City map features six lessons that will teach Minecraft players about sustainability. Microsoft's intention is to give its players “a sense of stewardship for the planet"'.
Microsoft has also released the content of the six classes available on the map. They will cover topics such as sustainable food production, identifying materials that can be recycled, and how electricity is generated and transported in facilities such as hydroelectric and wind power plants.
All of these lessons will show how the processes work and what the facilities where they occur look like. For example, in one lesson, players and students will be able to explore the inside of a hydroelectric and wind power plant.
In another lesson, you can see how a fully sustainable house works. That is, how it generates its own energy, how water treatment works and even the origin of the materials used in the construction of the house.
All of the charismatic and square style that made Minecraft a phenomenon, now for sustainability. Microsoft concluded the announcement by mentioning that Minecraft Education, the educational version of the game, reaches more than 35 million students and teachers qualified to use the game in the classroom in 115 countries.
