Mi Band 6 gains feature that allows you to reply to text messages

19 May 2021

Users of the Mi Band 6, Xiaomi's smart bracelet, gained a new feature for the wearable this Wednesday (19/05): the ability to reply to text messages through the accessory itself. The innovation is part of the firmware update package for version 1.0.1.32, which comes accompanied by Mi Fit v5.1.0, a complementary app that will also need to be installed.

Mi Fit updates will be available in stores Of google (Play Store) and da Apple (App Store), but, at first, they will be restricted to Mi Band 6 users living in China. The brand has not confirmed whether it will make the recent features available to other markets, but considering that the smart bracelet has already sold more than 1 million units since its launch, the trend is that the update will be global soon.

Regarding the main new feature announced, however, that of replying to text messages, it is important to emphasize that the user will need to have the app installed on the Mi Band 6 Note for Mi Band. When you open the app, just follow these steps: click on the 'button', then on 'quick replies' and that's it. It's worth remembering that the feature, initially, only has ready-made replies and, therefore, cannot be edited. In addition, it is only possible to reply to the last contact received, whether by email, Telegram or WhatsApp. This means that if you receive a message, leave it to reply later and, in the meantime, receive another notification, you will no longer be able to send a reply to the old one.

The feature that gives Mi Band 6 users (only in China, mind you) the chance to reply to text messages received via the wearable itself isn't the only feature in the firmware update. According to Xiaomi, bugs have also been fixed and improvements have been made to some apps, such as outdoor running goal settings.

Released on March 29th This year, Xiaomi's smart bracelet has a 1,56-inch, AMOLED, touch-sensitive screen with a resolution of 152 x 486 pixels. In addition, it offers a range of 60 different customization options to the user, and displays interesting information on the screen, such as heart rate, number of steps taken during the day, and much more.

Inside the hardware, the main novelty in relation to the brand's previous smart bracelets is the oximeter sensor (SpO2), which despite its presence in the Mi Band 5 Chinese, did not make it to the global Mi Band 5. Activity tracking can start up to six different activities automatically just by moving sensors on the user's wrist.

In addition, it has improvements for tracking previously launched modes, such as swimming, as well as new activities, such as zumba and even street dancing. In other words: from now on, you can finish that zumba class and, even if you're tired, reply to a text message using the Mi Band 6 itself without having to pick up your smartphone with sweaty hands.
