Nexvoo's mask has fans and self-cleaning with UV-C lights

A CES 2021 was the stage for the announcement of several interesting technologies and, considering the pandemic of Covid-19, the healthcare sector could not be left out, as this mask with UV-C lights from Nexvoo proves.

At the event, the company demonstrated the Breeze, a transparent mask that is cleaned by UV-C lights, which according to the company, is the first of its kind in the world. In addition to the mask, the company also presented a digital stethoscope, an ergonomic chair and a 6-in-1 health monitor pocket.

The Breeze UV-C mask, already approved by the FDA in the US, has ultra-quiet micro fans that create an “active fresh air system” to make breathing easier, according to Nexvoo. The fans have three adjustable speeds for different types of activities, such as studying or playing sports.

The mask is disinfected while the mask is charging by internal UV-C (ultraviolet) lights. According to the company, the Breeze's battery lasts up to six hours per charge, and takes one hour to fully charge via USB cable. The mask promises to completely seal the user's face with edges made of hospital-grade silicone. The five-layer filters of the fans protect against viruses and bacteria with 99% effectiveness, but also against allergens, dust, mold and odors, says Nexvoo.

And the Breeze UV-C mask is relatively cheap, costing $79 on the Nexvoo website. For that price, it already comes with 418 filters.

But from the product description, Nexvoo's UV-C cleaning mask seems to have some drawbacks as well. The Breeze weighs 114 grams, which is much more than a conventional mask. In addition, the filters need to be changed every 2 to 3 days of use, so you would need to buy more filters within 90 days.
