Leaker: New Xiaomi foldable will have two screens, internal and external

Digital Chat Station, a leaker who often appears here and who rarely misses a prediction, warned this Tuesday (15/06) that Xiaomi's new foldable is already being produced by the Chinese manufacturer, as had been speculated. According to the informant, it will hit the market in the next quarter and will have top-of-the-line configurations.

Just like the Mi Mix Fold, announced at the end of March, the future foldable will have Qualcomm's most powerful processor, Snapdragon 888 under the hood. The RAM capacity has not been speculated, but it should reach 12 GB, like the current generation, maintaining the standard expected for a flagship.

The first leaks regarding the new Xiaomi foldable also indicate that the company is working to equip the model with a 5000 mAh battery, and a system with three cameras, the main one being 108 megapixels, a liquid lens and an ultrawide. The selfie camera, in turn, would be placed under the screen, a feature that has already been discarded by Samsung in the future Galaxy S22.

Two screens

Speaking of screens, Xiaomi's new foldable is being prepared to have not just one, but two screens. The idea, according to Digital Chat Station, is that the internal, larger one, will be manufactured by Samsung, with a refresh rate of 120Hz. The external one, in turn, would be in charge of Visionox, and would have a slightly lower refresh rate, of 90Hz.

The future flagship would follow the mechanism that will be adopted in next generations of Samsung models and would also fold the screen inwards. One of the biggest unknowns regarding the new Xiaomi foldable, for now, is whether it will repeat the steps of the last model launched by the brand and be restricted to the Asian market or whether it will conquer the world and become a global version. This, however, should only be revealed when the actual launch date is closer.
