Huawei Mate 40 launched with 6,5-inch display and Kirin 9000E

Huawei today launched its new Mate 40 line in China, with the Mate 40, the Mate 40 Pro, the 40 Pro+ and Mate 40 Pro RS, but in this post, we're going to talk about the first one.

Good sized OLED screen

The smartphone has a 6,5-inch display that is slightly smaller than the Pro models, which have a 6,76-inch display. The OLED screen has a 90Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. It also has a lower resolution than its bigger siblings, but it's not bad (FHD+, with 2376 x 1080 pixels).

Triple camera with great sensor

The smartphone has a triple camera with the same 50-megapixel main camera with F/1.9 aperture and 1/1,28-inch sensor as the Pro models, the difference is in the other cameras. The ultra-wide is 16 megapixels with F/2.2 aperture, and the telephoto is 8 megapixels with F/2.4 aperture and 3x optical zoom. In addition, it has 5x hybrid zoom and 30x digital zoom.

The processor is the Kirin 9000E, which is not as powerful as the Kirin 9000 in the more expensive models, but it is also made on the 5nm process. The biggest difference is the CPU with only 22 cores (instead of the 24 in the Pro models), but the GPU is also a Mali-G78. Its NPU (neural processing unit) is a single core, compared to two in the other models. The smartphone can be configured with up to 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of capacity.

The Huawei Mate 40 with glass finish comes in three color options: black, white and a multicolored version. The leather-finished versions come in two color options: gray and already expected orange color. In addition, they have other small differences. The glass model weighs 188 grams and the leather model weighs 184 grams. In addition, there is a difference in thickness. The glass version is 8,8 mm, while the leather version is 9,2 mm.

The Mate 40 runs EMUI 11.0 based on Android 10, and lacks Google's mobile apps and services. It will cost €899, or about $5.919, but a release date has not yet been announced.
