Google Meet will have mini blocks with participants on mobile

Google has been updating its desktop video conferencing app. The latest changes include the addition of a anteroom in which the user can prepare to join the meeting and a mode that allows view participants on the screen. Now, this latest feature, of mini tiles with each member of the meeting, is being developed for the mobile version of Google Meet.

With the new update, when you open the Google app for a meeting, you will be able to see the image of each participant in mini blocks organized on your phone's screen. The blocks also show each person's name, as well as an icon indicating whether the person is speaking or not and whether they have muted their microphone. Due to the limitations of a phone's screen, only 8 people appear in the blocks at a time. Meanwhile, in the bottom left corner, a pop-up indicates the number of remaining participants.

Google Meet updates

The new mini block mode for the mobile version of Google Meet was announced by Google's official profile on Twitter. In the post, the company announces that, for now, the feature is being developed for iOS, but should arrive on Android soon. Although it does not provide further details on the subject, it is assumed that the feature will be available for both the app and the Gmail experience.

In addition to this update, Google is planning to bring another new feature to Meet. One of the next new features that should arrive is the split-screen feature. With it, it will be possible to remain in the meeting with video and audio while checking emails or responding to someone in the chat.
