Google Chrome for Android now allows you to preview the page without opening it

Released for smartphones earlier this week, version 89 of Google Chrome is implementing page preview. The idea is to be able to get an idea of ​​what's behind a link before clicking on it.

Accessing it isn't super intuitive. The number of clicks is almost the same as opening a new tab. However, this feature makes it easier to close a website that you won't spend much time on.

By long-pressing a link, you can open the preview. It takes up almost 90% of Chrome's space, and offers shortcuts to expand the page preview into a full tab or to close the content. A small bar at the top also allows the preview to be minimized to check the information on the original page. It can be an interesting option for browsing while doing research, especially if you're not a big fan of multi-window on mobile devices.

The center of attention?

The implementation of page preview in Chrome begins to be rolled out shortly after the company announced a more attention to the browser, which will start receiving monthly feature updates in the second half of the year. Market leader Google doesn't seem to be relaxing with its browser, which was launched in 2008.

Chrome, before the page preview, had already used an update along the same lines on Android tablets: now, by default, the browser displays the desktop version of the websites, and no longer the mobile version. These tools add up to other recent efforts from the Mountain View company, focused primarily on security and usability.
