Google Assistant will gain a feature for children to find their parents

One of the last major updates to Google for 2020 will come to Google Assistant, which may be used by all family members to find their relatives, including children. In addition, an expansion of the “Family Bell” function and the ability to attach notes for consultation by all relatives are also on the list of new features. Check out the details in this post.

Ok, Google: where are my parents?

Probably the most notable feature of this Google Assistant update is that it will let you ask your smartphone (or smart speaker) where your loved ones are. This includes children, who will see their exact location through their Google Maps connections. They will also be able to be found, but some features will only be available to children over the age of 13.

Of course, family members must have location services enabled on their devices.

Improved Family Bell

The “Family Bell” function allows parents to set recess times (or “recess”, if you are a young student reading this now) to establish breaks in their children’s studies, while the little ones continue to do their homework at home due to the current pandemic.

In the latest update, new sounds and alerts were implemented, as well as the ability to pause the “bells” for up to one day.

Notes for the whole family

The “Sticky Notes” feature is well-known to Windows 10 users, but Google also uses it on its devices. With the update of Google’s virtual assistant, quick notes can now be shared by all family members, so that messages can be passed on to everyone in the house (including children) on their devices.

All new features are being rolled out gradually to Android and iOS, so don't be surprised if you don't see them on your smartphones or speakers yet. In fact, Google informs that, for the latter, a tab entitled “Family” (or “Family Tab”) will be positioned on the device’s main screen, facilitating the use of the new features.
